Trevin suihkulähde - Trevi Fountain -

Trevin suihkulähde on Rooman suurin. Se täyttää pikkuruisen Piazza di Trevin lähes kokonaan. Tässä kuvassa on vielä varhainen aamun hetki, jolloin juuri muita turisteja ei ollut paikalla ja kauppiaat vasta alkoivat kasata kojujaan.

Trevi Fountain is the biggest fountain in Rome. It fills up almost the whole Piazza di Trevi. It's quite early morning in this picture, so not many other tourists are here, yet.

Suihkulähteen suunnitteli arkkitehti Nicola Salvi (1697-1751) Gianlorenzo Berninin suunnitelmien pohjalta. Barokkiluomus valmistui kuitenkin vasta vuonna 1762.

The fountain was designed by architect Nicola Salvi (1697-1751) based on thoughts by Gianlorenzo Bernini. The baroque creation was completed only in 1762.

Keskellä kuvaa merenjumala Oceanus ajaa merihevosten vetämissä simpukkavaunuissaan. Oceanuksen molemmin puolin seisovat jumalattaret symboloivat meren eri kasvoja.

In the middle of the picture is the sea god, Oceanus, who is driving by  carriage, pulled by sea horses. On both side of Oceanus are two goddesses symbolizing the two contrasting moods of the sea.

Iltaisin Trevin suihkulähteen reunat ja portaat täyttyvät turisteista.

In the evenings the edges and the stairs of the fountain are full of tourists.

Tarinan mukaan, mikäli lähteeseen heittää viimeisenä iltana kolikon vasemman olkapäänsä yli, tulee pian Roomaan uudelleen. 

According to a story, if you throw a coin over your left shoulder to the fountain at the last evening, you will return to Rome soon.
